Restless Isabela

Restless Isabela explores the paradoxical effects of tourism and development on Isabela Island in the Gal├ípagos – as an increasingly visited tourist destination, the island must develop to accomodate the vast economic opportunities, yet by inviting more people the islanders also invite invasive species, income disparity, and unsustainable development to their sheltered shores. How can the people of Isabela preserve their lifestyle and protect their attractive and unique ecosystem while also embracing the modern world?

The following vignettes present the issues the islanders must confront and the world must acknowledge.

  1. Regards from Cochabamba – Bolivia, I’m writing because I’m very interested in the option of developing practices in sports photography with the International Volunteers program. Looking to this site there is nothing about sports, but I’m still interested in this program, I’m anthropologist, photographer and filmmaker. I’ll be waiting any reply. thanks a lot!
